Awaiting the arrival of the guests for Opal’s backyard party like in the book, Because of Winn Dixie. 🐕

Testing out our bridge designs over the “ravine”.

These engineers built some sturdy bridges for these Hess trucks!

Thank you Hess Trucks for supplying us with 15 Trucks and STEM activities to entertain these brains after testing. Students are working in groups to build a bridge that will support the truck across a 14 inch ravine!

Some of our finished terrariums of the rainforest and desert biomes!

Working together to make our terrariums at @gardeners

As part of our third grade unit on biomes, we visited Gardener’s Supply in Williston to learn about various plants and to make our very own rainforest or desert biome.

So proud of these two kids! We have a magician and a rapper in our group! The UCS/UID variety show was a hit!

We planted tomatoes today to be grown in the garden at Deborah Rawson Library and to be donated to the food shelf.

Putting together our mistake tree from Because of Winn-Dixie.

UID third graders read the book Because of Winn-Dixie and then made our own “mistake tree” like in the book. Each student wrote down a mistake and put it in a bottle to say goodbye to.

Typing poems on Mr. Wells’ typewriter!

Reading to Kindergarten buddies is a great way to practice fluency and expression, while modeling what strong readers sound like! These third graders are amazing role models. 📚❤️
